Client News:

Thank you to Chantal Hildebrand of Alliance for Girls for raising the alarm about a disturbing pattern – Not only is the federal government pulling back support; so is philanthropy. Nearly all of the funding losses that organizations serving girls and gender-expansive youth in AFG’s network are experiencing is impacting advocacy work. “This is a defining test for philanthropy,” Chantal writes. Read the full Nonprofit Quarterly article to learn more about the widening resource gap and the urgent call for flexible, long-term philanthropic investment.

In case you missed it, our longtime partners at Akonadi Foundation and Brotherhood of Elders Network are members of the Community Steering Council helping to guide the efforts of Oakland’s first-ever civic assembly on Transforming Vacant Spaces. The community-led democratic process brings together a representative group of residents to develop recommendations on how to transform vacant storefronts, commercial spaces, and lots into vibrant community assets. 20,000 randomly selected Oakland households were invited to participate in a democratic lottery. From those who responded, 40 delegates reflecting Oakland’s diversity across neighborhoods, ages, and lived experiences will come together over three weekends to develop recommendations for transforming vacant storefronts, commercial spaces, and lots into vibrant community assets. Learn more about the Civic Assembly here.
