A recent poll from Power California provides a striking window into how Gen Z voters in the state are prioritizing political issues amid the cost-of-living crisis ahead of the upcoming election. According to the survey, the cost of living stands as the top driving factor behind young Californians’ decision to vote in November.
Saa’un Bell, Executive Vice President at Power California, noted, “As the November election approaches, young Californian voters are desperate for solutions to the worsening cost-of-living crisis they face. Engaging them will depend on how closely political campaigns are listening to their concerns, and ignoring them is a fast track to losing.”
The poll also examines young voters’ obstacles to casting a ballot, views on taxing billionaires, and resistance to data centers. The dataset features granular breakdowns by gender and race, along with dedicated regional spotlights for the Central Valley, the Los Angeles region, and the Bay Area. Driven by heightened concerns surrounding misinformation and voter suppression, this campaign seeks to ensure that voting remains secure, accessible, and inclusive for all.
