Californians for Safety and Justice is championing Assembly Bill 2247, also known as the Trauma Healing and Resilience Investment for Victimized and Exposed (THRIVE) Youth Act. Having already passed the House, the bill proposes a pilot program offering free trauma support and counseling to young people who have been injured by, witnessed, or lost loved ones to gun violence. This initiative seeks to eliminate the significant hurdles, including high costs, insurance limitations, and unreliable referral systems, that currently prevent many young survivors from receiving the care they need.
