“The reality of the stories at the heart of Through their Eyes is a truth that must be the center of our collective work if we are going to realize freedom and liberation for everyone. There is no one better to tell us about all the themes in this report than the young people themselves, our community experts.” Jessica Nowlan, Executive Director of Young Women’s Freedom Center on Through their Eyes, a new report from YWFC’s Freedom Research Institute. Yesterday, almost 300 people joined YWFC for a launch event lifting up the expertise and experiences of the community experts that bravely shared their stories for the report. Creatives in Place, a project launched by Tao Rising and Akonadi Foundation, collected interviews from 22 Bay Area artists “to serve as a kind of a listening project for donors in our digital world. The intent is to encourage a more bottom-up donor as opposed to a top-down model where the true needs of artists are heard and met.” More about the one-of-a-kind project at SF Arts.
