Change Consulting is seeking a committed and creative Marketing Manager to support the social change communications agency to achieve our own marketing and communications goals and support with business development efforts. The Marketing Manager will be our in-house lead for our strategies and tactics, including materials, social media channels, email marketing, blog content, website updates, and new business proposals. 

This position requires a highly creative and proactive content creator who understands the rapidly changing world of digital communications and the power of digital storytelling to help achieve our vision of a pro-Black communications agency working to advance racial justice. The Marketing Manager will be an expert on creating compelling and cutting edge content that reflects our brand promise, personality, and voice. This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of Change Consulting social media channels and community engagement, creating original content and curating existing content. They are able to move quickly to take advantage of real-time opportunities to leverage our thought leadership in a busy digital media landscape. They will manage our email and newsletter content, including list building and maintenance. They will also support other digital marketing strategies, such as ads and SEO. Working closely with the Director of Operations, the Marketing Manager will develop a command of the range of services that Change Consulting offers to be able to produce new business proposals that address the needs of potential new clients and demonstrate our expertise.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Thought Leadership: 

  • Demonstrate a commitment to racial justice, and an understanding of the systemic issues impacting Black communities and communities of color, as well as the ability to communicate, strategize, and write from this lens 
  • Working knowledge of SEO, as well as growth tracking, ROI, web-related data analysis, Google analytics, and other social media metrics and monitoring tools
  • Deep understanding of the differences between various social media channels, particularly Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X, and what content performs best on each of the platforms that Change Consulting uses
  • Experience developing and curating content for email newsletters, particularly on MailChimp
  • Develop at least one blog post quarterly to share learnings around stories and content through Change Consulting channels
  • Attend regular team meetings, providing input and feedback on business improvement
  • Efficiently manage projects using Change Consulting tools such as Asana and project management dashboard; track hours in Harvest 

 

Day-to-Day Services

  • Provide day-to-day management and implementation of Change Consulting marketing plans, including providing ongoing status updates and developing final reports on progress towards internal goals 
  • Manage Change Consulting internal marketing meetings including scheduling, developing agendas, summarizing notes, next steps, and action items 
  • Manage and grow Change Consulting’s social media accounts through curated and original content, including memes, videos, posts, graphics, sliders and more; effectively use social media management content tools for scheduling and review
  • Support with the development and production of Change Consulting branded initiatives and events including developing content, supporting event production, promotion, and more
  • Track and report monthly on analytics to measure outcomes and output, and use analytics to make strategic recommendations toward advancing Change Consulting’s goals across their digital channels
  • Work with Creative Director/contractor partners to prepare strategic and compelling graphics for Change Consulting social media campaigns and ongoing posts using platforms like Canva and Adobe Photoshop
  • Provide counsel for Change Consulting on social media platform usage, best practices, and audit channels for content creation planning
  • Implement email marketing strategies to reach target audiences and grow our list, such as monthly email newsletters and email blasts, content development, list building, optimization, and best practices for newsletters 
  • Manage Change Consulting website maintenance, developing copy, collecting visuals, and working with developer to execute updates 
  • Work with Director of Operations to keep new business materials updated to reflect our most recent work and the full range of services that Change Consulting offers 
  • Draft new business proposals for Director of Operations, CEO, and administrative team review based on notes from intake calls, writing copy, gathering visuals, and formatting
  • Develop and maintain our marketing materials, including one-pagers, decks, case studies, and sizzle reel/videos

  • Strong commitment to racial justice and social justice
  • Excellent written, presentation, and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to manage and move both short and long-term projects
  • Ability to stay plugged into what’s happening in racial and social justice, mass media, and popular culture 
  • Experience working with designers and visual content creation
  • High level of flexibility and adaptability with timelines and competing priorities in a small team
  • Frequently use and general knowledge of industry practices, techniques, and standards
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and present best ideas to administrative team 
  • Acts as a model of good citizenship 
  • Fun to work with, and doesn’t take themselves too seriously

 

Education and/or Experience:

  • At least three years of relevant digital communications experience
  • Proven results using communications to advance social good and racial justice, specifically across digital channels
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field 

 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • This position reports to the Director of Operations
  • Salary range is $66,000 to $75,000
  • Benefits include health, dental, 401k, vacation and sick time, quarterly office-wide restorative breaks, monthly work from home stipends, quarterly mental health stipends, and annual learning stipends
  • This position should be based in the San Francisco Bay Area; Los Angeles; Sacramento; or Atlanta, Georgia
