Restore Oakland

We led the development of a branding and strategic communications plan for a new community advocacy and training center in East Oakland, California. A joint venture between the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights and Restaurant Opportunities Centers United, Restore Oakland aims to mobilize Bay Area community members to transform the current economic and justice systems and make a safe and secure future possible for themselves and for their families. To support the capital campaign for Restore Oakland, we led key stakeholders through a research and planning period, including a communications audit, key informant interviews and a communications workshop, and used those findings to inform a messaging framework, tagline and communications strategy. Then, we worked with the team to design a logo and style guide, create audience-specific messaging and core materials using the new brand, including a one-pager, post card and PPT. We also worked with Restore Oakland to implement the communications strategy, including helping to organize a groundbreaking event and conducting digital and media outreach, with Restore Oakland featured in East Bay Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Fast Company and more.
