We are proud to have worked with Essie Justice Group’s brilliant and growing team to lift up their work on Black Mama’s Bail Out Day since 2017 when they became the California lead for the Mother’s Day action of the National Bail Out Campaign. Change Consulting organized a press conference for the action each year in Oakland, Los Angeles or virtually through 2020 and built and helped implement earned media strategies through 2021. We worked with Essie to identify and prep speakers for press conferences, outreached to media, coordinated, provided prep for and staffed media interviews, and produced and staffed the press conference. In the first few years of the event, we also helped develop a visual brand for Essie’s actions that was translated into striking posters, social media visuals and tshirts. Over five years of the Black Mama’s Bail Out Day action, we helped identify fresh framing for the effort to reach further with the core messaging of the campaign. Since our initial partnership with Essie, we have secured coverage for the Mother’s Day Action in Good Morning America, LA Sentinel, Los Angeles Times, Fast Company, KQED, Mother Jones, Vice Broadly, The Hill, Teen Vogue, Mic, East Bay Express, The East Bay Times, The Mercury News and more.
